RULES & REGULATIONS
1. Objectives
International competitions, features, TV series, shorts, web series, conferences, workshops, special events : The Geneva International Film Festival, Tous Ecrans, breaks down audiovisual barriers by showcasing works for television, cinema, the web and mobile screens. In 2011 we screened 130 films and series from 33 countries and invited 80 international professionals from across all screens. Works are selected by committees and judged by juries who are dedicated to finding the best films of 2011-2012.
Here are the rules and procedures regarding submission. We look forward to receiving your entries!
2. Festival dates
The 18th edition will take place 2-8 November 2012

4. Competitions: lengths and genres
Title sequences are included in the durations stated for each competition category. All fiction genres are accepted, with the exception of films deemed to be advertising a service or product.

5. Entry requirements
a) Films must be made in 2011-2012.
b) Allowing for exceptions, films/series entered cannot have been shown in Switzerland, or on French television, before 10th November 2012.
c) Once selected, no film can be pulled from the festival programme.
6. Accepted formats
Features: DCP, 35mm, HDCAM, DIGIBETA (PAL) and Blu-ray (PAL)
Series: HDCAM, DIGIBETA (PAL), Blu-ray (PAL), File (max 4Gb - quicktime H264 1920/1080)
Shorts and multimedia interactive fiction: File (max 4Gb - quicktime H264 1920/1080)
7. Registration guidelines
Registration is online only: http://www.cinema-tous-ecrans.com/2012/en/festival-inscription
This generates an initial contract which you must print, sign, and post together with your DVD screener (please write “no commercial value” on the envelope).

Guidelines for the online entry form:
a) The field 'Type of Film or Series' tells us about your distribution model (TV, cinema or web). This is required for administrative reasons.
b) The field 'In Competition For' tells us in which competition category you are entering your film.
c) Changes in 2012: 'web films' and 'classic shorts' now are now placed in the same competition category, called 'Shorts' (one International, one Swiss). In the same way, web series now compete in the general 'Series' competition category alongside television series.
8. Selection announcements
The distributors and/or directors and producers of the selected films will be notified by 15th September 2012 at the latest.
9. Shipping of selected copies
a) If your film is selected we will let you know how and where to send us the screening copy.
b) IMPORTANT : a pro-forma invoice must accompany each screening copy with mention of the sender’s name, film title, format, length, number of reels and whether it’s in colour or B/W.
c) Carriage and customs costs for shipping the copy to Geneva, Switzerland, are paid by the Festival. For the return of the copy, the Festival pays only the export fees from Switzerland. Transport costs to the return address are at the receiver’s charge. Prints and Betas will be returned only after the end of the Festival (allowing for exceptions). DVDs of the selected films will be held in the festival’s archives.
10. Insurance
Insurance costs for the period between receipt and return of the film copies will be covered by the Festival. In case of loss or damage during this period, TE will only be liable for the replacement value of the blank reels.
11. Subtitling
All films will be shown with English and/or French subtitles. If necessary they will be electronically subtitled at the festival’s expense. In case a script is requested, please make sure that it corresponds to the screened film/episode.
12. Invitations
Depending on budget availabilities, the festival’s priority shall be to invite the directors of selected films. The Festival has the right to decide upon the best possible itinerary in agreement with the guests. Invited directors are requested to attend at least one of the screenings and participate in the Q & A following the film. These dates shall be confirmed at least 15 days prior to the start of the Festival.
13. Prizes and Juries
Awards are attributed by a jury composed of international leading figures in the audiovisual realm.

14. Film programming
a) Your films and series will be screened in mixed programmes with other works, at the Festival's discretion.
b) Certain films and series in competition will also be shown in prime-time, at the Festival's discretion.
c) Registering your film authorizes TE to use associated trailers and extracts to promote the Festival, and to show the film in the Festival’s theatres.
d) Films and series which are already viewable online will be posted on our website.
15. Other situations
The festival directors will deal with any unpredictable situation not mentioned above. They may allow special dispensation regarding specific and justified requests. Participation in the festival implies full acceptance of all the terms and conditions outlined in the current rules and regulations.
